Alot of buzz around Florida and the future of the quarterback room. As the regular season wraps up next Saturday in Gainesville, against in-state rival Florida State, many fans are wondering how Dan Mullen and company will handle the QB competition next season.

I’m not here to tell you to pump the brakes. As many saw it as a surprise and out of nowhere, I have been lobbying for Kyle Trask since he came to Florida. This didn’t come out of nowhere to me. He has been the best passer since he stepped on campus. Through two coaching staffs, a few QB battles, Kyle got the opportunity he has been preparing for since he became a Gator.

10 games and 8 starts later, I’m here to tell everyone what nobody is really talking about. Kyle Trask is as good as gone after this season. Not because he will transfer, but because he will enter the 2020 Draft. BREAKING NEWS! Kyle Trask is one of the best prospects in the class if you haven’t been watching.

I know alot of people are probably thinking… What? He isnt ready for that step. He needs another year. Or any other excuse you can think of, to devalue why a QB with only 8 starts in college, shouldn’t leave. Well guess what? Trask has the tape, stats, build and mentality that scream, “I’m an NFL QB.” Scouts will love alot about Trask, as he measures up to alot of other top prospects.

Have u heard of Jordan Love? Jake Fromm? Jacob Eason? Some names being thrown around as first round prospects. These guys according to many scouts, are tier 2 guys, behind Tua, Herbert & Burrow. Let’s compare their Junior seasons to date.

Jordan Love

10 G | 61.7% | 2684 | 7.4 | 13 TDs | 14 Ints | 127.9 QBR

Jake Fromm

10 G | 64.8% | 1968 | 7.5 | 16 TDs | 3 Ints | 146.0 QBR

Jacob Eason

10 G | 63.7% | 2472 | 7.8 | 20 TDs | 7 Ints | 145.6 QBR

Kyle Trask

10 G | 66.8% | 2293 | 8.4 | 21 TDs | 6 Ints | 158.0 QBR

By the numbers Kyle Trask is more accurate than all of the above. Takes care of the ball and passes TDs just as well or better. Also which isnt noted… Trask has only started 8 games verse the 10 he actually seen snaps in. For further comparison let’s see how he stacks up facing similar defenses.

Jordan Love vs LSU

15/30 | 50% | 130 Yds | 0 Tds | 3 Ints | 66.4

Kyle Trask vs LSU

23/39 | 59% | 310 Yds | 3 Tds | 1 Int | 146.0

Kyle Trask vs AU

19/31 | 61% | 234 Yds | 2 Tds | 0 Int | 146.0

Jake Fromm @ AU

13/28 | 46% | 110 Yds | 3 Tds | 0 Int | 114.8

Kyle Trask @ Mizzou

23/35 | 66% | 282 Yds | 2 Tds | 0 Int | 152.3

Jake Fromm vs Mizzou

13/29 | 45% | 173 Yds | 2 Tds | 0 Int | 117.7

So why are people not talking about Kyle Trask as a prospect? The biggest knock on him is his lack of experience. Speaking of lack of experience… Following Cardale Jones one real season as a starter, he went in the 4th round in 2016. In Jones 10 games his junior season he threw for 8 Tds vs 5 Ints. Jones overhype and lack of passing ability is why he didnt make it longer in the league. But a team took an opportunity on Jones, even when the numbers weren’t favorable. Measurements will do that. Dwayne Haskins was a 6-5 250lb QB with a big arm. Kyle Trask is a 6-5 239lb QB that can make all the throws on the next level, with better accuracy. His 40 time, if it matters, is projected in the 4.9-5.1 range.

Trask has the skills to pick apart defenses and makes pro throws, against pro players. One of his best throws on the year came against LSU’s top safety and 1st round prospect Delpit. A beautiful pass down the sideline to Kyle Pitts.

Trask displays the toughnes and ability to stand in the pocket with pressure and deliver. As he did in the opening drive against Auburn.

If arm strength was ever in question. How about this effortless, off balance, jump pass for 41 yards, against one of the nation’s best pass defenses in Mizzou.

Kyle Trask has been doing one thing consistently, carving up the opposing teams defense. Going toe to toe with Joe Burrow and Jake Fromm in his only two losses on the season. All while playing through an MCL sprain and learning how to play with a brace on. Most people forget why his mobility was altered in the first place. Kyle Trask is an above average athlete at the QB position.

With the film Kyle Trask has produced as a junior this season, I truly believe Kyle Trask will enter the 2020 Draft. Trask is easily a day 3 lock, with day 2 potential. The risk to comeback another season and risk injury or go into a QB battle with Emory Jones, is very unlikely. Dan Mullen recruited Emory Jones and it wasn’t to be a backup his junior year.

“I owe everything to this University and I never thought to leave.” – Kyle Trask

This is no knock on what Kyle Trask has accomplished or if he wouldn’t win a QB battle next summer. It’s about his future and the future of the Florida Gators. Kyle Trask helped Dan Mullen to the crossroads. Both are appreciated of each other. I wish Kyle the best of luck and know he will take the league by storm when the opportunity comes. Just like he did in the SEC at Florida. Tom Brady fell to the 6th round, I dont see him falling that far but his potential could be just as great. Gator Nation will always remember your journey and this season. If there was a curse it’s finally broken.
